<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">About Alex
Sheremet</b></div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
Alex Sheremet is a young writer from Belarus. A
poet, critic, and novelist, he became interested in film as a means of furthering
his own art, and chose to stay because of everything else that film has taught
him.</div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
Alex’s debut novel (<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">A Few Streets More To Kensington</i>) <span style="color: black;">deals
with classic tropes of childhood -- nostalgia, curiosity, and the wars of
self -- now transposed to the streets of Brooklyn, and examined through an
artist’s reluctant gaze. Rich, melancholy, and contemplative, the tale follows
its protagonist well into his teenage years, and inevitably asks the same
questions that have already been parsed for millennia. Yet, for all that,
violence, friendship, video games, femme fatales, 9/11, and Hasidic Jews
abound, for while this may not have been <strong>your</strong> reality,
it certainly was the narrator’s, and that of many others. The book,
therefore, subsists on the ‘magic’ of the 1990s, and remains one of the few
comprehensive depictions of that era – even as it transcends it, too.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
Alex’s second book (<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Doors & Exits: Some Cues From A Study Of Two Extremes</i>) <span style="color: black;">is a ‘docudrama’ that probes the follies and
accomplishments of the 21st Century, all within the world of a single,
fictional school in New York City. Beginning with three philosophical axioms
that, in the narrator’s mind, define the universe and its machinations, the
book adjusts, rejects, and renews them till the very end. But while the
book’s place may be a fabrication, its conflicts are not, for its characters
(kids, teachers, and those somewhere in between) have a reality someplace,
somewhere, and will repeat themselves – <em>ad nauseam</em> – for as
long as we’re recognizably human. This is the little-known difference
between Truth and Reality, and Alex’s novel -- a ‘genuine fake’! -- straddles
both.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
Alex’s third book (<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Woody Allen: Reel To Real</i>) <span style="color: black; font-size: 11.5pt;">is the most comprehensive analysis of Woody Allen’s films ever
published, and is the summation of everything that he’s learned thus far
in cinema. Hailed as a “seminal” and “revolutionary” book by poet and
critic Dan Schneider (<a href="http://www.cosmoetica.com/" title="Cosmoetica"><span style="color: #ce6607;">Cosmoetica</span></a>), Alex’s style of criticism is
straightforward, beginning with a single assertion: that art can (and should!)
be evaluated, and that a critic’s job is above all <strong>to</strong> evaluate.
His hope is that the reader will come away knowing more of art and cinema as a
whole, and be able to apply these ideas to new art-works in a way that’s
logically consistent and self-sufficient, all the while avoiding the common
pitfalls of artistic criticism. Woody Allen’s films are especially conducive to
this view, for while not everyone has thought, felt, or suffered what his characters
do, Woody’s creations still depict reality -- however small a portion -- and
subsist within it. To miss this is to miss the work, and simply be left with
one’s own biases and limitations.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle">
Alex graduated Valedictorian of Macaulay Honors
College in New York City with a BA in Classical Studies, English, and

other publications.</div>

<i><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">According to a poll taken by Take2 Publishing of
noted film critics on their favorite film fantasy projects, the most
popular response, by a wide margin, was for Steven Spielberg to direct a
James Bond film, a project that had been discussed by Spielberg and
Albert (Cubby) Broccoli some years ago. </span></span></i></h2>
<div class="releaseDateline">
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 22, 2014 </div>
<br />
In a poll conducted by <a href="http://www.take2publishing.com/" rel="nofollow" title="Take2 Publishing">Take2 Publishing</a>
earlier this month on the subject of film fantasy projects, Spielberg’s
Bond film gained 21% of the votes, handily beating out the next highest
vote getter "Christopher Nolan directing a Charlie Kaufman script" at
13.5%.<br />
<br />
Rounding out the top 5 were "Joel and Ethan Coen bringing The Catcher
in the Rye" to the big screen at 13%, sharing the third spot with
"Peter Jackson making a cinema series from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld
novels," also at 13%. In fifth place was the hope that "Pedro Almodovar
would direct a Woody Allen script" at 12%.<br />
<br />
Spielberg directing a Bond film is not a fantasy out of the blue.
According to an interview with Spielberg by Jason Matloff originally
published in Premiere Magazine and included in the just published <a href="http://www.digiaction.com/take2/guide/index.html" rel="nofollow" title="Take2 Guide">Take2 Guide to Steven Spielberg</a>, “I had been turned down twice by Cubby Broccoli years before,” Spielberg said.<br />
<br />
He had first expressed interest in directing a Bond film in the early
1970’s, as a follow-up to his theatrical feature-film debut The
Sugarland Express. At the time, producer Albert (Cubby) Broccoli was
reluctant to give the young and inexperienced director such an
assignment; by the early 90’s, when Spielberg expressed interest again,
Broccoli is reported to have quipped, “Now I can’t afford you!”<br />
<br />
Rounding out the top 10 responses were "Alfonso Cuaron directing a
Star Trek film" at 9% closely followed by "Spike Lee remaking Gone With
the Wind" at eight percent, equaling "Kathryn Bigelow remaking Fantastic
Voyage," also at eight percent.<br />
<br />
Trailing at single digits were "James Cameron directing Joseph
Conrad’s Nostromo" and "Alexander Payne directing a Neil Simon
screenplay" at two and one percent respectively.<br />
<br />
The poll was conducted amongst the 150 contributors signed with Take2
Publishing, a dedicated eBook publisher which just released “The Take2
Guide to Steven Spielberg” and has in development the following titles;
Take2 Guides to Woody Allen, Lost and Breaking Bad; the first in a
stand-alone series titled Cities In Cinema - “Shining a Spotlight on New
York"; a publication on "The Evolution of Cinema Comedy - It's Not
Intelligent Design"; and the first in another series in the sci-fi arena
called Sci-Fi On Screen - "Apocalypse How - Viewing Armageddon Through

Take2 Publishing has a unique role in the market, as all it's books are made up of already-published articles, paying particular attention to the wonderful writings, their authors and sites, that at the moment are not getting anywhere near the attention they deserve.<br />It should also be noted that all Take2 books must maintain a traditional linear narrative in form, not necessarily of time and place, but of ideas and opinion and be imbued with one overriding primary directive … to add substance to the discourse on the subject.<br /><br />
The Take2 Guide to Steven Spielberg is a shining example of that goal.<br />According to John Pruzanski, CEO and managing editor for Take2 Publishing, the need for this form comes from the supposition that at this time, where there are more words being added to the annals of civilization every month than the accumulated archive of recorded history from the beginning of civilization till the start of the 20th Century, has inconveniently coincided with the fact that searching online has become much more prohibitively cumbersome, difficult and time consuming.<br /><br />
“Between sifting through professionally SEO'd sites and the multiplicity of ‘paid results’, searching has become an onerous chore especially in finding the wonderful works of those writing in near anonymity and who might only appear after many dozens of pages of search results.<br />"We do it so you don't have to," he said.<br /><br />
Whether it's a Guide to a filmmaker or a cinema sub-genre (or even a television series), Take2 books will include multiple reviews of every film directed by the filmmaker, every episode of the series (no matter how many seasons), or every film discussed. There will also be at least eight - 10 chapters discussing issues related to the subject … each chapter also including multiple associated articles coming from some of the best known writers on the subject, as well as (and more importantly), from scribes who perhaps are only writing for small discreet circles of friends and acquaintances. It will be the books dedicated editor's role to generate original text that will provide the 'connective tissue' for the narrative and will also provide a contextual framework for each contributed article.<br /><br />
Further publications in development include The Take2 Guide to JJ Abram's Lost and a comprehensive Guide to the cinema world of Woody Allen both to be released in the next few months amongst many others.<br /><br />
According to Pruzanski, these Guides have been built "for those too smart to search".<br /><br />
Although Sam Juliano, from the Wonders In The Dark website said after reviewing the T2G to Steven Spielberg, "I tip my cap to you for the exhaustive and scholarly nature of this most noble enterprise," Take2 Publishing can still acknowledge the warmth and humor attached to it's ‘lofty’ endeavors.<br /><br />
That is clearly evidenced in the promotional video produced for the launch where many contributors to the Spielberg Guide digitally don 'fancy' hats representing a collection of Spielberg's films in a morphing spree of appreciation.<br /><br />

Already, a community of online viewers have had fun trying to guess the identity of the contributors and which of Spielberg's films their hat’s represent.<br /><br />
Take2 Publishing has also produced a 50 page ‘pdf’ extract for the 900+ page Guide. It is freely available for download.<br />
